Redmond Estate Collection

Wayne Redmond was more than a client, he was a treasured friend. Originally from Dallas, TX, Wayne first visited the gallery in December of 1993. Already a collector of Southwest Indigenous art, Wayne was enamored with the carvings from the Pacific Northwest and wanted to add a mask to his collection. That one mask purchase led to a thirty-two year journey of collecting Northwest Coast art.

Wayne visited the gallery every year for over 20 years, until he was no longer able to travel. He always attended our annual Holiday exhibitions and major Anniversary events. Wayne even traveled to Metlakatla, Alaska with us to witness the first totem pole raised by David Robert Boxley on the ancestral land of the Tsimshian of Annette Island.

Wayne was particularly attracted to the carvings of the Kwakwaka'wakw First Nation, and loved the carvings of Alaskan Tsimshian artist David A. Boxley. He would add one or two carvings a year to his collection, always asking for guidance, but ultimately buying pieces that spoke to him.

I am honored to offer this collection for sale and humbled by the responsibility of finding the next perfect home for these artworks that were so lovingly collected. - Cecily Quintana
