Purépecha clay, or barro, refers to the ancient and ongoing pottery traditions of the Purépecha people of Michoacan, Mexico. Centered around Lake Pátzcuaro and surrounding villages, artists mine local clay, burnish it for a smooth finish, and fire it at low temperatures.
