Emery Boone is a carver who creates a variety of traditional fetishes, including buffaloes, bears, frogs, coyotes, wolves, horses, and mountain lions. He works primarily with pipestone and jet, and his pieces are distinguished by the intricate inlay work on both sides, even on smaller items. Emery comes from a long lineage of renowned carvers. His mother, is the younger sister of the late, well-respected carver Emerson Quam(d). Emery learned the craft by observing his mother and Emerson(d), as well as Emerson's large family, all of whom were skilled carvers. This makes Emery a first cousin to Emerson and Rosalia, and indirectly related to their carving nieces and nephews, such as Colvin and Claudia Peina, and Troy and Gabe Sice.
