Daniel Hernandez Tiburcio was born on January 8th, 1949 in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas. He was born with artistic blood in his veins, and found art to be magic. At a very early age he recognized his ability as an artist, despite the fact that his father wanted him to attend military school.

As a young man, he traveled to Mexico City where he received a 5 years scholarship to La Esquela Nacional de Bellas Artes. His chosen medium of oil painting on paper, board, or canvas enables Tiburcio to add dimension and texture to his subjects of nature and humans in transformative states.

“All of my subjects come from dreams, I paint them and they become my children. The themes of my paintings come from my life experiences.”

Tiburcio’s work was greatly influenced by authors such as Aldous Huxley and Gabriel Garcia Marquez, both masters of magical realism. He endeavored to create two- dimensional work in which the miraculous and the real converged.

His work has been exhibited throughout Mexico, the United States, Canada, Germany, Brussels, and Holland. He is presently living in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico, and enjoys being a part of this thriving art community that is committed to maintaining the connection to its roots, and thoughtfully uses heritage to attract visitors from throughout Mexico and the world.
