Aloysius (Al) Mayac (1950-2014) was a skilled Inupiaq artist from King Island, Alaska known for his miniature, intricate ivory carvings of Arctic animals, birds, and daily life, continuing the renowned carving tradition of his father Peter, his brother Ted Sr. and his cousins Fred and Larry Mayac. His pieces display exceptional anatomy, movement, and detail, with surfaces incised and inked using traditional scrimshaw techniques to create vivid textures and patterns
