An abundant food source, the Kwakwaka'wakw First Nation believed the Halibut threw off its skin and fins to emerge as the first Human after the Great Flood subsided. Commonly carved in feast dishes and used for oolichan oil. The more detailed and elaborate the feast dish, the more highly ranked the person was who owned it.
