Towatuga Sagouk (1934-1996) was born on the land near Cape Dorset, Nunavut, Canada. His father Mannumi Shaqu, his sister Sita Saila from Cape Dorset and his brother Enook Manomie from Iqaluit are all acclaimed artists as well.
Towatuga’s work has been widely exhibited in art galleries and Museums including Nova Scotia Museum of Fine Art, Winnepeg Art Gallery, and the monumental exhibition Masters of the Arctic: An Exhibition of Contemporary Inuit Masterworks presented by the Amway Corporation at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.
