Christopher Aningayou is of Siberian Yupik heritage, was born in 1983 and lives in Nome, Alaska. He works in the tradition of the St. Lawrence Island carvers of the Bering Sea. He learned to carve from his elders and hunts walrus and finds bone to carve on St. Lawrence Island. He is a young carver, but is becoming known for his beautiful interpretations of geese and bears.
