Lance Cheama is perhaps one of the best known contemporary Zuni fetish carvers. He credits his brother Dan Quam, as teacher. Lance is a carver who seems to bring stones to life through his artistry. Though he carves many different animals, Lance is famous for his intricately carved lizards and badgers.
He has taught his wife, Karen Cheama the craft as well. He is related to artists Arvella Cheama (sister), and brothers Fabian Cheama, Wilford Cheama, and Dan Quam.
