The Mono Paiute territory stretches from the Eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevadas to the boarder between California and Nevada. It lies directly east from Stockton, California. The Mono Paiutes are experts at making twined baskets and are well known for their utilitarian style. The traditional designs are horizontal and/or vertical geometric motifs of a single color on a white background.
